Purpose
This PDW (Paper Development Workshop) is designed for early-career researchers based in Asia or studying management phenomena related to Asia. It provides opportunities to discuss their work and receive individual feedback from scholars with publication and editorial experience at top journals such as Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science. The workshop aims to promote research with global impact originating from Asia.
Both on-site participation at Tohoku University (Sendai, Japan) and online participation are welcome. On-site participants will have access to rich networking opportunities with other attendees, and limited financial support (JPY 20,000 × 4 participants) is available from the Kyoto University of Advanced Science’s Kyoto Firm Research Center. We strongly encourage in-person attendance. Sendai in late August offers a cool and pleasant climate — a perfect opportunity to refresh your mind and gain new insights and connections.

Eligibility
PhD students and early-career researchers in management (generally within 5 years of completing a doctoral degree). Master’s students planning to pursue a PhD are also eligible to apply.

Session 1 – Individual Feedback: Accepted participants will be assigned to groups of 1–3 per mentor and receive personalized feedback on their research (open to those who have submitted and been accepted with a paper or abstract). If some mentors are unable to attend in this period, sessions will be scheduled individually.
Session 2 Panel Discussion: “The Road to Your First Publication: Challenges and Lessons Learned”
Every researcher who has published in top journals had a “first paper.” How did their first project begin? What challenges did they face and what did they learn? Two promising early-career researchers will look back on their early research and publication journeys and share their experiences and insights.

目的

セッション1：個別フィードバック
採択者は、メンター1名につき1〜3名のグループに振り分けられ、自身の研究に対する個別フィードバックを受けます（事前に論文またはアブストラクトを提出・採択された方が対象）。※一部のメンターが当日参加できない場合は、個別にスケジュールを調整いただきます。
セッション2：パネルディスカッション「初めての論文掲載への道：困難と学び」
トップジャーナルに論文を発表してきた研究者にも、必ず「最初の論文」がありました。最初のプロジェクトはどのように始まったのか。どのような困難に直面し、何を学んだのか。二人の若手気鋭研究者が、初期の研究・出版の歩みを振り返り、経験と知見を共有します。
